The Scottish Government has published the analysis, carried out by Griesbach & Associates, of the consultation on responsible dog ownership. An announcement from Justice Secretary, Kenny Macaskill, states that, given the strength of public opinion against the proposal, the Government will not be pursuing a policy of compulsory muzzling of all dogs in public places. However, the majority of respondents to the consultation were in favour of a system of compulsory microchipping and the Scottish Government is now considering the practicalities of introducing this across the country.
